The University of the West Indies will be represented by a delegation of 16 students at the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) from February 16 to 19 in Boston, Massachusetts. Application deadline: Sunday 25th October. Every Wednesday evening you will represent a UN Member State and debate with your team mates on a given UN issue. http://www.sta.uwi.edu. Our delegates will be embraced by a variety of geopolitical perspectives that expand their understanding of diplomacy and multilateral relationships by partaking in guided tours throughout the United Nations Headquarters in NYC, engaging in debate with high ranking officials such as the assistant Secretary-General to Kofi Annan, Dutch foreign ministers, former UN conflict mediators, and Ambassadors. The team comprises of students from the St. Augustine, Cave Hill and Mona Campuses. Kurba-Marie Questelles, Kia Jaikaran, Andrew Lavia and Andel Andrew have been assigned to Poland and will be participating on two committees, namely, the Disarmament and International Security Committee (GA-DISEC) and the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (GA-SPECPOL). Our preparatory track leading up to the conference is built upon three pillars. The second pillar refers to our Mock Sessions. In addition to improving your MUN skills, our focus is also on developing skills as a young professional.
