Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Today marks another difficult step in reducing the size of the diocesan staff so that more of our resources can be committed to the essential ministry of local congregations. Effective immediately, I have eliminated the full-time position of administrative assistant to the bishop and archdeacon, and the quarter-time position of communications missioner, and regretfully ended the employment of Nanette Smith and Adam Bond.
The functions of these two positions will be combined into one full-time senior administrative position that will have responsibility for office management and day-to-day communications. I expect to update you this spring about that position. In the meantime, the phones in the office will be staffed by a temporary assistant who will work with Archdeacon Rick Cluett to handle any questions or needs callers may have.
When we began the ongoing process of restructuring the staff, I pledged to you that we would treat departing employees with dignity and respect. In keeping with that commitment, both Nanette and Adam have been offered a generous severance that includes career counseling and job placement services. Please join me in thanking them for their service to the Diocese of Bethlehem, and please keep them in your prayers during this time of transition.
Faithfully,
The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe
Bishop Provisional
