Christ Church, Stroudsburg

During this time of Diocesan pilgrimage, the Spirit has moved through our congregation and many of us have been called to seek an avenue of deeper prayer and reflection.  As a result we are organizing a chapter of the Daughters of the King.  There are 11 of us, plus our mentor, who have completed the discernment stage in preparation for the institution of a Senior Chapter this fall.  We find something magical in the number 12.  Our chapter has chosen the story of Ruth as our grounding scripture and our chapter name is “Ruth and Naomi.”  We chose the story because it represents the love between women and their love of God.

Through the order we are drawn to a deep prayer life, a rule of service and evangelism.  We are exploring ways to be of service to both our church and community.  We have realized, through the discernment process, a spark that has awakened in us a desire to fulfill our potential and discover our individual God given gifts.  We are excited to learn more about each other, grow together, and get to work for the love of Christ.  The Motto of the Order explains it all:

For His Sake…
I am but one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, I ought to do.
What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do.
Lord, what will you have me do?

These are words for all of us to pray on and live by.
