In his May 29th message, The Primacy of Love Demands Justice and Racial Reconciliation,Bishop Kevin D. Nichols announced plans to form “a Racial Justice and Reconciliation Task Force, as we envision how to faithfully and actively stand against racism and inequality.” Nichols has been working with Sandy Milien, Missioner for Community Engagement, and the Rev. Canon Dale Grandfield, Canon Missioner, to identify gifted and diverse leaders from all around the diocese to create the Task Force and engage in this vital work.
The Racial Justice and Reconciliation Task Force will be holding its inaugural meeting tomorrow, June 12, in order to discuss the Task Force’s top priorities and most pressing concerns. The question they will be focusing on, and they ask each person in the diocese to consider, is “As we confront the realities of our country and society, how is God calling you to faithfully respond to the urgency of this moment?“<
The Task Force will periodically update the diocese with important messages, resources, and ways to get involved in the work of racial justice and reconciliation via the diocesan newsletters, website, and Facebook page.
